About Dorothy Stone

In demand as both a Master Teacher and Active Performer, Dorothy combines her unique and holistic style of teaching with a broad knowledge of vocal repertoire, encompassing a large variety of musical styles.


As a performer, Dr. Stone has earned critical acclaim on three continents, singing principal roles in Opera (Verdi Specialist), Operetta, Oratorio, Recital and Musical Theatre, as well as numerous concert and cabaret performances.


She attended Harvard University in Cambridge, MA and the Mannes College of Music in New York, followed by graduate studies in Opera and Vocal Performance at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the Accademia Vocale di Lucca, in Lucca, Italy in conjunction with Carnegie-Mellon University.

Post-graduate studies include courses in Orchestral Conducting with Maestro Vincent LaSelva at The Juilliard School and Integral Anatomy Intensive Somatic Studies at Tufts University, 

under the tutelage of Dr. Gil Hedley. 


Dorothy Stone holds a PhD in Somatic Linguistics focusing on regional variants in Vocal Production and Expression from the Liszt Ferenc Conservatory in Budapest, Hungary in association with George Washington University.  

She studied Voice and Vocal Pedagogy with the late Bel Canto Master Cornelius L. Reid for over 25 years, and was a protege of the late, French Dramatic Soprano, Régine Crespin, both coaching several of her operatic roles with the famous Diva and traveling with her as a teaching assistant for International Master Classes.


She is currently on the faculty of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and is the creator, director and founder of the Restorative Vocal Training, TRANSForm, and 

Summer Time Sings Programs.
